The Words Of An Idiot In Sussex.

50!?

Time has come for me to say
Thank you for my many days,
The beautiful gifts you have bestowed,
Wonderful children nearly fully grown,
The loving wife, she is the best,
To put up with my daily tests.

I know that I have crossed all lines,
With more to come in diminishing time,
I often visit both sides of the track,
But always knowing when to come back,
Green may not always be the right choice,
To keep your life in a balanced voice.

Like Tevye's faith I may not be rich,
But have great wealth, other gifts,
My family and friends that money can't buy,
Capacity to drink and never die,
Just to know what makes a full life,
But a bit more money would be nice.

Would the dollar destroy this happy ship,
Give me too many wasted gifts,
I have tried to be in it, but always lost,
Gave up the rich life it was not worth the cost,
To see the memories of family life,
Or was that all just down to a good wife.
